A beacon of safe, stable housing for young adults.
It all started with a conversation…
It was 2013. We were meeting with our partner New Avenues for Youth, Oregon’s largest provider of job training and transition services for youth in foster care. We wanted to know one thing: how do we leverage Bridge Meadows’ inter-generational community model and New Avenues’ expertise helping at-risk and homeless youth learn to be self-sufficient to build and operate a trauma-informed housing and life-skills program?
The vision for New Meadows was born that day. New Meadows is a community housing model for youth transitioning out of our foster care system. There will be a total of 15 units: 10 studios and 4, one-bedroom apartments.
One unit will be occupied by a Residential Advisor and the facilities will accommodate transitioning youth who may already be parenting children of their own.
This new community is just blocks away from our Bridge Meadows North Portland community offering the youth the benefits of our intergenerational care and support.
Watch for groundbreaking ceremony in early 2017!
